Ex- Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- physician has been charged with performing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
