Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a significant and ongoing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
